Pilot Projects

Ngā kaupapa ā nā whakawhirinaki whakawhanake o Ahuriri

Pilot City Trust supports innovative, community-led initiatives that contribute towards positive social cohesion and unity in Ahuriri – Napier.

We welcome individuals, organisations and communities to bring to us their new or borrowed ideas, no matter how "raw" it is.  We will evaluate the ideas and if selected we will support you to develop them into something that is ready to try out across Napier as a pilot project.

The Trust will select initiatives that align with:

  • our aspirations for Napier/Ahuriri

  • supporting the adoption of restorative practices to reduce social injustices/inequalities

  • helping communities and agencies to connect and work together

  • building community capability to achieve the changes they want.

The Trust will support selected pilot projects:

  • for up to three years

  • by using their strong community connections and capacity

  • ensuring their needs are heard and their rights to information and services are respected

  • by providing mentoring and specialists in the project field

  • assisting in securing sustainable funding

  • using measurements on the impact projects are having

  • reporting on outcomes, the impact projects have had on the community and, the benefits of continuing or expanding the initiative

  • hosting an annual “Unity Day” forum to bring together our community to listen, talk and celebrate their achievements.
